Education is a part of our DNA at HAPI. In 2020, we got our start educating hair professionals about Black haircare and the importance of building equity in our respective industries. Before long we were holding workshops for salons across Oregon and quickly expanded our course offerings to reach community members, local organizations, and schools & universities alike.
We are available for travel and private Zoom classes. Digital, on-demand classes will be available come fall 2024!

Cutting Curly Hair with Shape in Mind
Curly hair is arguably easier to cut than straight hair; we just need to approach it differently. We’ll show you why and how in this two hour master class.
Mastering the not so “wash & go” style
Learn the ins & outs of styling naturally curly hair so your clients leave with finished and defined waves that feel expensive.
Blonding for Curls
As a licensed hairstylist, you already have plenty of tools in your tool belt; sometimes we just need a reminder of how to use them. This blonding class will take you back to the basics of color theory.
Braiding for Beginners
Braiding is one of those topics they seemed to skip over in beauty school. We’ve got you covered!
Black Hatters: Building an Equitable Salon Space
Our signature “Black Hair Matters” workshop is where it all started. We realized that before we learned curly haircare, we needed to first understand how to care for Black people.
